Police arrest man for allegedly killing another over parking

The Police Command in Lagos State says it has arrested a 41-year-old man, Tolulope Olowu for allegedly stabbing  a 33-year-old Pablo to death over car parking on their street. The command’s spokesperson, SP Benjamin Hundeyin confirmed the incident to Newsmen on Sunday. Hundeyin said the incident happened on Saturday at about 10.00 p.m. at First Unity Estate, Badore area of Ajah. He said the case was reported to the Langbasa Police Division on Sunday at about 2.00 a.m. The spokesman said that the suspect and deceased are resident of  Gbadamosi Street in the estate. “They had a misunderstanding over parking of vehicle on the street. “In the process, Tolulope allegedly stabbed Pablo with a knife in the stomach and he died on the spot. “Based on the report, teams of detectives from the division visited and photographed the scene. “The corpse has been evacuated and deposited at IDH Morgue, Yaba for autopsy,” he said. Lukaku double fires Inter to easy win at Empoli

Romelu Lukaku shot Inter Milan to a 3-0 win over struggling Empoli on Sunday with his first Serie A goals from open play since the opening day of what has been a difficult return season in Italy. UK pulls diplomats, families out of Sudan

British armed forces have evacuated UK embassy staff and their families from Sudan, Prime Minister Rishi Sunak said Sunday, as fighting raged between rival Sudanese generals. “UK armed forces have completed a complex and rapid evacuation of British diplomats and their families from Sudan, amid a significant escalation in violence and threats to embassy staff,” Sunak tweeted. The prime minister said the government was “continuing to pursue every avenue to end the bloodshed in Sudan and ensure the safety of British nationals remaining in the country”. Defence mininster Ben Wallace tweeted that  UK forces undertook the military operation alongside “the US, France and other allies”. The UK operation involved more than 1,200 personnel from the army, the Royal Marines and the Royal Air Force, he added. Despite better WASSCE results, fewer females admitted to tertiary institutions – Report

Despite doing better than their male counterparts in the secondary school leaving certificate examinations conducted by the West African Examinations Council, WAEC, the National Examinations Council, NECO among others, fewer females are able to secure admission to tertiary institutions in the country, a report by the National Bureau of Statistics, NBS, has revealed. The recently-released report, titled “2021 women and men in Nigeria statistical report,” looked at the years 2018-2020 and found out that more female students were able to secure more passes at credit level in at least five subjects including English Language and Mathematics, the required qualifications for admission, but were still fewer in number regarding those who enrolled for higher education.  According to data obtained from NECO, in 2018, 1,036,644 candidates sat for the June/July exam out of which 588, 477 were males and 450,167 were females, but 74.65% of the females passed with five credits and above inclu

JAMB postpones continuation of DE registration over UTME, census exercises

  ABUJA –THE Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board,JAMB,has announced postponement of the continuation of its Direct Entry registration, which was scheduled to close on Thursday, 20th April, 2023, but was extended by one week. The board said the exercise would now continue on Saturday, 6th May, 2023, when the 2023 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination, UTME and the national census exercise would have ended.  “This development is to accommodate the conduct of the Board’s Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination,UTME, billed to start on Tuesday, 25th April, 2023, and end on Wednesday, 3rd May, 2023, while the National Census is scheduled to start on Wednesday, 3rd May, 2023, and end on Friday, 5th May, 2023,”it explained in a statement,Sunday, through its spokesperson, Fabian Benjamin.
